Three reasons why vulnerability is a superpower and 1 way to get started

Vulnerability is a superpower that creates healing and connection.

How many of you grew up in a culture that insisted that you suffer in silence? Too many of us have internalized messages that tell us, "Man up!" "Suck it up!" "Don't be a baby!" Too many of us go through life trying to hide our perceived flaws from others.

We airbrush reality and deflect from anything that might make us appear soft.

When you learn how to be vulnerable, you unleash healing power and energy.

  1. Vulnerability creates an opening for authentic connection. If you hold others at a distance, there is no room for others to enter. When you reveal your pain to others, hearts open.
  2. Healing happens when hearts are open and connected. Instead of being alone in your pain, others can walk with you and share empathy. It's empowering to allow others to love you in the areas that you once hid.
  3. Your vulnerability permits others to explore their grief and sadness. When there is a reciprocal sharing, there is a feeling of lightness and relief. You can heal in community.

How do you get started?

Try this: "I want to out myself and say . . . " or "Are you open to hearing what's really going on for me?"

Take the risk. You are worth it.
